Creative Learning: Nurturing Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills
The importance of critical thinking and problem-solving is frequently discussed among creatives today. Schools, businesses, and institutions need individuals who can offer solutions to the challenges they face. As a result, soft skills like creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking must be integrated into school curriculums. These skills are not exclusive to a specific group of people; they can be developed by anyone.
Children, in particular, possess a natural creativity, curiosity, and energy that, when properly directed, can open up a world of possibilities. One effective way to nurture these qualities is through play.
During the last mentoring session at Dolly Children Foundation, the children engaged in various games such as chess, Monopoly, and Scrabble. These games challenged them to think critically and devise strategies to overcome obstacles that might prevent them from winning. Through these activities, they unconsciously developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills—two of the most essential soft skills in today’s world.
Moreover, the skills taught in classrooms must be applied beyond the school environment, empowering students to create real-world solutions and innovations.
