Advocacy

The reality of the children we serve at the grassroots has shown a significant role in supporting children, their families, and communities to claim their rights. Hence, this overall objective drives our advocacy programmes to ensure that children have a voice.

These programmes are designed as webinars, training, and outreaches based on the evidence of our field experiences and the need to collaborate, and continuously encourage critical stakeholders to recognize children's needs and act to do their part.

This is a quarterly initiative organized in collaboration with highly skilled and sought-after educators. It is designed to equip teachers to be effective and up-to-date with global standards. We believe that teaching skills, updated regularly have a major influence on what and how children can learn, sharpen, and unleash their skills. Over 2500 teachers from public and low–income schools have been trained in DCF workshops.

Success Story

The concept behind building a school fence for OOLG Primary School, Makogi all started during the 2018 Universal Children’s Day event. This event which was tagged “children are taking over and turning the world blue” was focused on building a world where every child is in school, safe from harm, and fulfilling their potential.

Just like every other project, we enquired from the children about what they learned and the action points at the end of the programme. One of the major feedback they gave was the desire to have a fence in their school because they didn’t feel safe.

Our team took all their concerns to heart and with the support of our friends and partners, the school now has a fence, gate, and signage for the first time in 67 years.
